EXPLORE MICKLETON, CHIPPING CAMPDEN AND THE NORTH COTSWOLDS
Mickleton is located in the most northerly conservation area of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and often referred to as “the gateway to the Costwolds”.
This popular Cotswolds village is ideally located for exploring the North Cotswolds and surrounding area; Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick (with the famous Warwick Castle), Leamington Spa, Oxford, and Cheltenham are all within easy reach. Mickleton has two great pubs within 5 minutes walking distance from the cottage door and the Three Ways House Hotel, home of the famous “Pudding Club” plus a wine bar, bistro and formal restaurant. The National Trust’s Hidcote Gardens, an arts & crafts masterpiece with intricately designed outdoor ‘rooms’, is a 30 minute walk from the cottage. Kiftsgate Court Gardens, famed for its grounds that were the creation of three generations of female gardeners, is a similar distance from Blenheim. Walk a little further to discover the Foxcote estate or the villages of Ilmington and Ebrington with award winning pubs to quench your thirst.
From Mickleton there is easy access to neighbouring Cotswold villages, including Chipping Campden (5 mins by car, or a very pleasant 60 minute cross-country walk). Campden is notable for its elegant terraced high street, dating back to the 14th century. Others include Broadway (15 mins by car), Moreton-in-Marsh (25 mins) and Bourton-on-the-Water (30 mins). Upper and Lower Slaughter villages (25-30 mins) are quintessentially British with lovely walks and beautiful hotels for a bite to eat. Stow-on-the-Wold (25 mins) is home to ‘The Tolkien Door’ hidden away in the grounds of the historic St Edwards Church.
